Out of frustration by the lack of an existing online community for advanced skiers in the Netherlands, I decided to start one myself in 2002. I called it SkiZone and it turned out to be the start of quite an adventure. What started out as a simple forum grew into a highly dedicated community and even a small media outlet (SkiZone Magazine) that covered ski events and resorts in Europe and North America. During that time, my activities covered all aspects of SkiZone, ranging from site development to community management and editorial tasks. After 7 years, SkiZone ceased to exist, after merging into its successor: wePowder.
